The STYLO Self-Perception Indicator is designed to help you see yourself more clearly by giving you important data that contributes directly to your ability to make better judgments and to get more satisfaction from performing your workplace role or function.

Examining the data gives you valuable insights into how you like to deal with tasks and people, how you like things to be accomplished - and how you don't. Acting on these insights will lead you and others to be able to cope more effectively with threats, conflict and stress. It will help you lead, contribute and work with others more effectively, and help them work better with you.

This Indicator is different from others you may have completed. You are asked to choose between alternative endings about ways of behaving and being seen and heard to behave by others. In each pair of endings you are to select the one which comes closest to describing how you do behave (or how you believe others see and hear you behave). This is not a test. There are no correct answers; neither are any of the alternatives any better or worse than the others. The result of your responses is a record of your preferences and perceptions, not an evaluation of your behavior. Some of the choices may be clear and easy for you - others may be more difficult. Consider each pairing on its own merits and don't be influenced by earlier choices. Choose the ending that comes closer to applying to you as you are now - not as you might want to be! If you feel neither ending is like you, select the ending that is less different from you. When choosing between endings:

Be honest with yourself.
Be spontaneous.
Think of yourself in general rather than in any specific examples.

This Indicator is designed as a valuable and comprehensive key to self-understanding. Completing it will therefore make some demands on your time (approximately 25 - 45 minutes), concentration and alertness. However, people who invest this effort have reported that STYLO provides very valuable information in a powerful way and the personal insights gained were well worth the efforts invested!

Instructions for Completing the STYLO Self Perception Indicator via Internet

Allow approximately 25-45 minutes to complete the Indicator. Any delays experienced will generally be associated with your individual service provider's network traffic. Should numerous and/or lengthy delays occur, we suggest that you terminate the session and reconnect again at a less busy time for your service provider. (Please remember to make note of the user name and password you select during registration. This will allow you to retrieve and reconnect to the Indicator beginning after the last completed entry.)

The Indicator consists of 30 partially completed statements, each with six pairs of alternative endings. You will only be shown one statement and one pair of endings at a time. From each pair of endings you are shown, choose the ending which, together with the incomplete statement, would come nearer to applying to you.

You should consider each pairing on its own merits. Do not be influenced by earlier choices. You must choose one of the endings and cannot go on until you do so.

You indicate your choice by clicking on to the button to the left of the chosen ending. An entry will appear on the selected button. If you change your mind, simply press the other button and the entry will move to that choice.

Once you have decided on your choice, press the "Next" button. This will confirm your decision and the screen will show the next pair of endings.

Once the "Next" Button has been selected, the process is irreversible.
You cannot go back to previous statements.

Continue the process of selection. When you have responded to each of the six pairs of endings of an item statement, the screen will change to the next item statement and show a new pair of alternative endings. The program continues in this way until all 30 statements with their six pairs of endings are completed.
Upon your last entry, you will receive confirmation of completion and be advised of feedback procedure. You will not be able to see your individual results at that time, but will be contacted via E-mail by your STYLO Consultant to confirm your completion and secure arrangements for feedback.
